“Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go” ~ Truman Capote
Welcome to a new series of posts where we induct an icon of travel into our virtual ‘hall of fame’. There are no rules to what can be included and there is no particular order. We hope you enjoy our selections and photographs.
Unlike Truman’s quote Venice is unlikely to make you sick; however, paying for lunch at St. Mark’s square could leave you feeling slightly queasy, although I understand his sentiment. Venice certainly hits you like a sugar rush, the colours, the atmosphere, the architecture and pulse of this historic Italian city.
The Grand Canal without doubt has the ‘wow’ factor. The first glimpse of the busy waterway from the Rialto Bridge truly takes your breath away. A great way to start the Travel Icon series.
