Picture The World Project, Greece

Photo by Amy Lynne Hayes of creatricemondial.com

This photo was taken from the Acropolis, overlooking the view back onto the city of Athens, with the Parthenon in the frame.  I don’t know if anyone can even hear the word “Greece” without thinking of the ancient Athenians and all they accomplished.   My photo, which captures part of the old and part of the new, represents those two elements existing in Greek culture today – the blending and coexistence of modern society with the ancient history.   You see this mix throughout Greece, both in the mainland and in the islands.   It’s what makes the experience in this country so rich.

I would like to nominate Liz Carlson from youngadventuress.com and Graham Brown from barefootjournal.com.

Thanks Amy for sharing this picture for Greece.  I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t visited Athens yet…shame on me!
