This picture reflects, beside the amazing architecture of the main church of the Curchi Monastery, what was so unexpected for me about Moldova, a former Soviet republic. Though communism pretty much destroyed or severely damaged the physical representation of religion and faith, Moldova has beautifully restored these gems.
These are not just architectural restoration projects: I could see in the people visiting these churches and monasteries that faith did not really get stamped out and has been restored to its traditional place in the Moldovan people’s lives.
I would like to nominate Aaron (elatlboy.com) and solobagging.wordpress.com.
Raul, thanks for sharing this picture for Moldova. Over to Aaron and solobagging.
