“O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain” – America the Beautiful, Katharine Lee Bates
Perhaps no state in the union represents this line in the iconic song better than Kansas. Big, broad skies give way to the golden wheat fields on the expansive plains that was once roamed by the mighty American Bison, icon of the West. As the wind sweeps gently across the fields, it catches the blades of wheat in its smooth, rolling motions. The undulating sway in a field of wheat is Kansas at it’s best – beautiful waves in a sea of grain.
