Haiti is known as the land of orphans. It is a country that hasn’t been able to catch a break since its independence in 1804. And yet the country is still full of smiling people and happy children making the best with what the have.
I took this photo in North East Haiti in the city of Lambert. On this day I was visiting a voodoo doctor who invited me in to share his life with me and explain the path he had chosen for himself. He had 27 children but this child stood out above all the rest. While others were playing games around his compound he simply observed his father and myself as we toured home, underground alters, and open tombs. The kids are the future of Haiti and they should be the focal point of any efforts of recovery in their nation.
I want to nominate Meg of LandingStanding.com and Jessie from Jessieonajourney.com to contribute their photos from around the world.
Thanks for sharing Clint. Children’s faces always express so much. A great photo. Can Meg and Jessie fill in a country?
