Following the success of 10 Romantic things to do in Paris here is a second helpful guide detailing romantic ideas and attractions for anyone visiting Los Angeles, California.    LA might not seem the most romantic of cities compared to Venice, Paris or New York, but there are many activities to set that romantic mood and make your visit one to remember.  Here is our Top 10 Romantic Things To Do In LA:

1. Walk on the beach

Take a romantic stroll along LA’s beautiful beaches either at sunrise or sunset. This is real quality time spend hand in hand as the water splashes over your toes. There are plenty of LA beaches to choose from, but more importantly make sure you go for your walk when there are fewer people about and you can have the sand, sea and your loved one all to yourself.

2. Gondola Ride

You don’t have to go all the way to Venice for a romantic gondola ride. Take your significant other on a romantic boat ride as you are serenaded by the gondolier. You can arrange to have Champagne provided by the gondola company. Popular routes include Naples Island, Newport Beach, Huntington Harbor and Redondo Beach. Companies which organize these trips include Gondolagetawayinc.com, Gondolaamore.com and Sunsetgondola.com.

3. Romantic Restaurants

Nothing says romance like a candle lit dinner. In LA there are plenty of restaurants to choose from but some standout as being especially romantic. Try the rustic candle lit Lucques, Il Cielo (8474 Melrose Ave)  in the Beverly Hills, go for grandeur at Sir Winston’s on the Queen Mary or go for French sophistication at Melisse on Wilshire Blvd.

4. Disneyland

Become a kid again and rediscover the carefree fun that couples can have. Take your date to Disneyland, ride on the scariest rides so that you can cling tightly to each other and enjoy eating cotton candy and junk food for the day. Get your photo taken with the ultimate couple Mickey and Minnie and end off your day by cuddling up watching the fireworks over the Disney castle.

5. Hot Air Balloon Ride

Take your loved one up in the air above California’s magnificent coastline. Take your balloon ride at sunset or sunrise and enjoy the crisp clean air above the city smog. Some of the hot air balloon companies offer snacks, flowers and Champagne for your flight. If the sea and sand is not your thing then fly your lover above the house of her favorite Hollywood star.

6. Horseback Riding

Take a horseback ride out into the LA countryside at sunset and enjoy a picnic in the wild. There are several ranches like the Sunset Ranch Hollywood who arrange romantic rides for couples.

7. Griffith Observatory

Star gazing can be extremely romantic. Either take a tour of the Griffith Observatory, see one of their live programs or wander in the gorgeous gardens. Check their website for special events like the “Public Star Party” or even buy your lover a star online and name it after her/him. Then present the official star certificate to her/him at the observatory as you try to locate the star in the sky.

8. Hike To A Waterfall

Switzer Falls can sometimes be packed with visitors but if you time it right you may have the place relatively to yourselves. Imagine how romantic it is to hike through the gorgeous wooded countryside while following a babbling brook and to arrive at a cascading 50 foot waterfall. Enjoy a cool dip in the fresh water pool at the foot of the falls and then relax with a picnic by the waterside. Switzer Falls is by the San Gabriel Mountains and the hike trail begins from CA2, 10 miles past Altadena.

9. Japanese Garden

Get your Yin and Yang in line here in this peaceful environment. This is the perfect place for a spiritual and romantic moment of serenity between two lovers. The Japanese Gardens are specially landscaped to exude harmony and enhance inner peace. Enjoy some tea in the Japanese tea house.

This way of showing your love has been popular in Europe and Asia for quite a while but hasn’t yet become passé in the USA. Buy a plain padlock and have it engraved with your name and your loved one’s name. Add an engraved heart or the words “forever”. Then take your loved one to a romantic bridge over a body or water (in fact this could be anywhere where there is railing). Surprise him/her by presenting her/him with the padlock and attaching it to the railing. Throw away the key symbolizing eternal love.
